It’s only Toosday and I started my countdown to the weekend on Sunday afternoon. What a brilliant start to the week – can CNY long weekend come already?!
Two Fridays ago, Luq performed at Kaw Kaw Café as part of his audition to sing at the café. I’ve self-appointed myself to manage him so, I made the call and spoke to the sound manager about getting a spot for him. Okaaaay, I admit I am a little bit bossy when I speak. It helps boost my confidence – and I’m making it easier for people to remember me. It’s a service guys – should thank me instead. When I met this sound dude, he seemed very nice and polite that I automatically felt bad for sounding unfriendly while liaising with him.
So the method of audition is to sing 2 sets for the night and each set is about 40 minutes long – approximately 6 songs. I went, “Isn’t that too much for an audition?”. But that’s ok, we proceeded with 2 sets anyway – first wave: exposure. Luq did pretty well despite the fact that he only managed 2 hours of sleep the night before. I was prepared to run over to the stage if he collapsed. As usual, I got a bit nervous when he’s on stage because of his habit of forgetting song lyrics – which he did ONCE that night, but covered up pretty smoothly.
Also, he did this cool thing with his looper during the audition. So he kinda sound like he was playing with a band. I had a mental picture of our little kiddos playing in a band with their dad in the future – preparing myself to live in house with banging pots and pans in the name of making music.
It was fun watching him perform as usual. It’s heartening to see how much he enjoys playing music and sharing it with everyone. Thank you everyone who was there to support us. If you want to check out Luq’s covers, you can subscribe him on YouTube here. I will try to get him to update regularly – now that I take 3/4 of his time!
