Such a beautiful city. A city brimming with art of all kinds and time. Of course, you can (and should) visit the countless museums in the city but, for a person who doesn’t really fancy that, I walked around the city with my camera and snapped everything that was around me.
You can see art everywhere in the city… from the conversations people have, the smiles in their eyes, the munching mouths, the graffitied walls, the doors to the buildings, the cobbled-stone walkways, the falling autumn leaves, the lampposts (my fav!) and it’s endless.
Getting around the city is easy peasy! Metro stations situated almost every 200-300m. I still think the best way to discover Madrid is by walking. Don’t be lazy… we all want that thigh gap! I didn’t buy the 10 trips metro card because I stayed in the middle of the city. Just minutes away from Puerta del Sol (shopping haven)! It’s a walking distance to almost ALL the main attractions. And, how can one just have 1 pair of boots, really?
I stayed at Santiago’s apartment at Carrer de Zorrilla. It’s an old building but newly refurbished. The interior design of the apartment was impeccable. If you fancy cracks and peeling paints, I recommend you to stay here. Found this place from airbnb.com (where I usually book my accommodations when I travel since this year!) at 28 euros/night – such a steal! And, Santiago was such a lovely host from day 1. You can ask him ANYTHING about the city and he will tell you with the cutest hand gestures and Argentinean accent 🙂
Next stop, Seville!
