On our way to Gallipoli. Behind is Marmara Sea. (me thinks?)
“Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives… You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore, rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and Mehmets to us where they lie side by side here in this country of ours. You, the mothers, who sent their sons from far away countries wipe away your tears; your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. After having lost their lives on this land they have become our sons as well.”- Ataturk, 1934.
He was saved by his pocket watch during the British invasion.
On the ferry to Canakkale.
The doorway where Achilles (Brad Pitt) dragged Hector’s (Eric Bana) dead body. Aish and I made references to the hollywood blockbuster instead… brilliant!
The stage at the Troy settlement.
Ruins in Acropolis of Pergamon.
Pretty Aishie 🙂
We took the cable car up to the Acropolis of Pergamon. It was windy today so, you could imagine how frightening it was. Rest assured, we found out that the car was made in France but, the ropes, hopefully in France or Switzerland.
Heading to Ephesus tomorrow. Finally, our day will only start at 930 am!
