life lately & a surprise baby shower

I have not been updating my life here because typing is hard work – what pregnancy does to you! Jokes aside, fatigue from pregnancy is real so is pregnancy brain. All I could muster after a day’s work is lying down on my bed doing absolutely nothing. Believe me, I counted down to my maternity leave since week 10. Initially, I wanted to start my maternity leave at week 38 but, nah that so not happening! That being said, tomorrow is my last day in the office. I cannot be any more proud that I made it this far – being pregnant and working full time can be quite a feat.

    honeymoon shenanigans

Didn’t we have a great time in San Francisco and Maui?! It was such a great adventure – not quite our first, but still… It took us months to decide on where to go for our honeymoon. I lost count of the number of times we changed our honeymoon destinations – more than 5 times maybe?! It was Luq who suggested Hawaii and I went, “why not?!”

Seeing that both of us are not exactly your favourite beach people, we decided to add a city destination into the mix. Initially, I wanted to go to NYC but Luq’s been there before, hence, we thought San Francisco wouldn’t be such a bad idea – a city and beach escape – just our kind of holiday!

    fork & dagger

We had to run a quick errand in JB last Saturday for the wedding. The last time we went in on a Saturday, we were caught in a jam and last Saturday was no different. I’m going to let you in on a tip – Sunday is a much better day to drive in. Trust me, I’ve been going in and out of the checkpoint many times more than I have scrubbed my toilet floor. Anyway, we decided to just go with it, because after Sunday is Monday and the blues (now that I am working again) would hit me real hard. #struggleisreal

invites out, i’m getting married for real

With May(hem) swinging in, we are down to our last three months before the big day. Not sure if what we’re feeling counts as wedding jitters, but there’s this tingling feeling in the air, stomach and everywhere else that you can think of. Planning this big day has been quite a ride. Just when you think you have crossed that hurdle, another one comes smacking right in your face. From my experience, the hurdles come in various forms – you won’t even guess that it is even remotely possible in the first place. Then when it happens, I’d call my rescue team (Luq, who else?).

But despite all that (some of which I failed to anticipate – no one gets it right the first time!), I can’t be more thankful for having talented family members in my life. You know how frustrating it can be dealing with vendors who don’t even know you, your style and how much minimum is minimalist enough. So, having these people in my life is truly a blessing.

    (un)domesticated goddess and everything else

Should I be concerned that I’m turning domesticated? I’m telling you I can’t stand to see a speck of dust or things just lying around recklessly in the house. Sometimes – and my mum would go mad if she finds out – I throw things that I deem useless. I mean, why would you keep empty glass bottles (ok they look artistic because my parents got them from the weddings they attended) and place it on the cabinet? All I can think of is D U S T!

When I told some close friends about my current pet peeve, they would tell me that I am ready for what’s going to come next in my life –  the marriage. Ha ha di ha ha. Luqman is one lucky guy if this pet peeve continues for years. Who wouldn’t like coming home to a clean house? Once, we briefly decided that we would probably get a weekly maid who would help out with the housework. That was obviously decided before my crazy urge to have the house clean all the time.

    kl weekend & life lately…

I just came back from Kuala Lumpur (KL) recently for my cousin’s wedding. Luq and I thought of making a short weekend getaway out of it too. Honestly, I can’t seem to handle going away for just the weekend anymore. It’s actually pretty tiring – especially the part at the airport. I was pretty knackered when we touched down on Sunday evening (and hungry too!). I used to dream about travelling to somewhere nearby with my kids in the future at least once every two months. I will need to relook into this again. L A U G H O U T L O U D!
