Obviously, that wasn’t me. Nope, not guilty.
I had a fantastic time with my girls last night. I knew there was going to be a dinner and a sash (because I asked for it, some things you need to be very clear about), but a bridal shower!!! Hehe, I was over the moon last night.
So… I got to be a blonde with short bob and bangs. My goodness, those are the three things I’ve been secretly wanting to have. I looked like the crazy bride from Mean Girls (you know the one Lindsay Lohan dressed as for Halloween). I had to eat, drink and walk around Arab Street looking like a drag queen as quoted by my brother. I don’t remember when was the last time I did something quite outrageously like that. Even a cat was totally judging my scene.
So my sister and I finally did it. We finally made it into the kitchen and got our hands dirty. We’ve been talking about baking or cooking for years now. The last time we had a baking session – which we can’t take credits for because it was Betty Crocker the entire time – was more than five years ago. We wanted to say life happened, but really, it was just pure laziness.
Hence, yesterday was such a remarkable turn for our sisterhood. Not only did we stay in the kitchen for more than 2 hours, we got our own groceries too (and paid for them). We sneakily bought Nutella & Go! only because it was on offer – how can you say no to 4 for $5 when it usually goes for $1.90 per packet! You just don’t and deal with the calories later. Or not… whatever.
So a lot has changed since we last saw each other. The last time we met up, Amps was still heavily pregnant. We are such good friends that we got the pregnant lady to fly over here for her surprise baby shower. But we were very nice to get all the essential baby stuffs that she needed like breast pads (?). Luckily we had Rhiz who is a mum of a two-year-old toddler to explain it all for us. Such baby noobies we are! The horrifying truth was when Amps was the most clueless of us all. Who’s giving birth again?
This time around, nothing’s changed we still got the newly mum and her baby to fly over to meet us for the weekend. In my defense, this is a good practice for baby Sebi to get acquainted with the airplane you see. We are doing him (and his mum) a favour. Each time I looked at baby Sebi, I couldn’t believe Amps made him. Goodluck, Sebi. Since this was our first ever group outing with a baby, Aish googled for baby friendly cafe and Cafe Melba popped up!
Two weeks into the new year and my cats still have the same stinky attitude. Don’t get me there.
This year I am going to make it a year of change. Sounding like Mark Zuckerberg already. Somehow I had no problems parting with $300 to pay for EXO concert tickets. I’m not a crazy fan. Sure I listen to them thanks to my sister who manages my playlist – what choice do I have, really? – but deciding to go for their concert was another story altogether. If you were to ask me to go last year, I would give you a big fat NO! But this year is different so instead of convincing Trisyia not to go for the concert, I found myself joining the queue outside Indoor Stadium last week.
Woke up today missing Bali… London… Ok quite frankly, all the places that I’ve left my footprints at. My recent trip to Bali (exactly a week ago) was let’s just say god knows I needed it. Bali has never quite etched in my memory from my last trip, but this time around it certainly did.
The 4 of us – Luq, Trisyia, Hakim (my brother) and myself – decided to go on a holiday together. We briefly sketched out the itinerary but more than anything, we were planning on #yolo-ing. Moreover, it was just a short trip and I’m never a fan of thinking too much on my holidays (except on my solo trip to Spain, I needed to).
In Bali right now. Drove up to Uluwatu for the beautiful sunset and it was still breathtaking as the first. Glad that I went with these gorgeous humans in my life.
Luq and I plan to bring our kids to our favourite sunset spots around the world… one day 🙂
