What I’m working towards in 2016? Definitely, world peace (cue Ms. Universe’s victory wave).
Squeezing some time in between emails to write this blog post. Seems like everyone has moved on from new year’s resolutions and I haven’t started. I am a procrastinator by choice, clearly. Before I get down (and not dirty) writing about what I hope for in 2016, I have to make an ode to 2015. It was a good 12-month run. It proved to be a trying year but, I got out alive and there was a lot to be thankful for.
December is everyone’s favourite month especially for me. But yesterday got Luq saying, “I need December to end faster”. You have the permission to punch him in his face. I declared the whole of December my month because well, it’s my birthday month and I am allowed to ask anything and everything under the sun. Kidding, or am I?
Been having non full work week this month. It’s either I’ve managed my leave well this year or the company has been generous. Whatever it is, I am not complaining. Taking off this Thursday just ‘cos I can!
Celebrated Christmas with my family (it was indeed a family weekend I had). The day started out lazy in Trisyia’s bed. Her bed grew arms that hugged me tight and never let me wake up. In Malay, I would say, “This is bed is such a setan (devil).” Since she has been away for most of December, she owed me home cooked breakfast – her trusty french toast with hot milo. I totally deserved that. Totally.
Luq made me admit my mistake and apologize for it on my birthday. This is apparently his indication of me being a year older and wiser. Screw it.
Besides that, I had a great birthday celebration with him. Like I mentioned before, he is big on surprises. But – I am a pretty good guesser. My birthday weekend started with being 45 minutes late for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Well, well, well, who knew I would be so gripped by the movie and now I’m quite a fan. Caught Empire Strike Back the next day to get into the whole Star Wars scene, but totally fell asleep half way through it – I’m sure these things take time! In any case, we managed to watch the full movie on Tuesday to end off my birthday celebration. Now, I want BB-8 droid as present. It’s still my birthday month … such ideas 🙂
I can smell my birthday weekend already – yes it’s that time of year!
So according to the love of my life (i.e. Luq in case you don’t know), I should expect nothing. That’s exactly what I did last year and I got a ring. I’m more than happy to expect nothing this year *insert cheeky smile* Anyway, I want to talk about birthdays. I learnt about its importance in this relationship of mine.
It’s been quite some time since my family had a meal together. I guess it’s getting pretty normal these days not to have meals with your family because everyone is just busy and finding the time is proving to be more difficult. But we shan’t make excuses. Family time is very important and this is definitely something I will be strict about when I have my own family in the future.
So it was nice for us to actually sit down for a meal last Sunday at Jai Thai (I’ll get to the food in a bit). My parents aren’t exactly the type who love to eat out. They would rather sit at home and watch teevee than go out. One of the few places they fancy going which the kids have grown out of is East Coast Park. But I am happy that they have their place to go. Especially now that we are all grown up. To be honest, my parents are handling empty nesting pretty well. They’re just waiting for one of us to pop grandkids for them to love and spoil. Something tells my dad has plans to build a tree house. Well, I am planning to be in it.
So my darling boo is a proud uncle of Baby Eliza Sophia. She is such a cutie pie. She is mostly sleeping these days with occasional whimpers whenever we pat her to wake up. Yeah guys, can you just leave me alone? I heard from her mummy and daddy that she is a night owl – no sleep for mummy and daddy it seems. That’s pretty much written all over their faces when I came to visit on Saturday.
I mean look at that! How can I not fall in love with this man right here?
